About Me

Welcome to EDAD660!  This blog will serve as the main repository for content related to the Summer 2010 version of the course being run in Palma de Mallorca, Spain.

For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Craig Kapp, and I’ll be your professor this summer.  Over the last ten years I’ve have the privilege of working with teachers, administrators and students from around the world in the field of educational and instructional technology.  From 1999 to 2008 I headed up the Instructional Technology center at The College of New Jersey where I focused on developing tools to help faculty members find new and innovative ways connect and engage with their students.  I’ve also worked on a number of assitive technology projects for organizations that advocate on behalf of people with disabilities, such as the New Jersey Consortium on Deaf Blindness, Inclusive Higher Education and the New Jersey Alternate Format Production Center.  In addition, I’ve taught a variety of courses for TCNJ over the last ten years, including Authoring and Multimedia Software Development for Teachers, New Media & Interactive Computing, Web Application Development, and Introduction to Computer Fundamentals.

I recently finished up my post-graduate work in New Media from New York University in May of 2010.  I also hold a masters in Educational Technology from TCNJ and a bachelors degree in Computer Science from TSC/TCNJ.  I currently serve as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Computer Science at New York University as well as a Researcher in Residence at the Interactive Telecommunications Program at NYU.

In addition, my other research interests include web-based instructional and educational technology solutions, computer vision, augmented reality, web application development, data visualization, digital storytelling and developing assistive technologies for people with disabilities.

I’m looking forward to working with you this Summer!

-Craig

    Craig,
Thanks for an engaging first day of class. Already the light bulbs are firing up with practical possibilities for when I return to school, especially the digital storytelling.
Looking forward to the rest of the course.
